The monthly Andante, if you live in Matosinhos
The zone map is the whole decision. Most trips between Matosinhos and central Porto do not need the ticket people buy first.
Andante zones are rings around Porto. Matosinhos beach and the metro into Trindade or São Bento sit in the ring most newcomers already cross, so a monthly pass for that ring is usually enough.
Buy it for the zones you ride every week, not for the one Saturday you might go to Gaia. A single extra trip is cheaper than paying all month for a zone you do not use.
The card itself is the annoying part: the first one is bought at a metro station, not on the bus. After that, the monthly load can be done at the machine.
