Buying second-hand in Porto

Most furnished flats in Porto are not furnished. The fast market for a sofa, a bed, a fridge or a bike is OLX, filtered to Porto. CustoJusto is the other public board. Facebook groups exist, and they are harder to check because many are closed.

Two ads that were open on 24 October 2026

• IKEA Söderhamn, three seats, listed in Lordelo do Ouro e Massarelos at 450 euros. The buyer collects. Published 4 October 2026.
• Elops 900 city e-bike, listed in Porto at 750 euros, negotiable. The ad says the photo is from the Decathlon site, and that the bike was bought in May 2024. Published 18 October 2026. A catalogue photo is a reason to ask for a picture of this bike, not a reason to transfer a deposit.

How people lose the money

• Pay when you are standing next to the item. Cash, or MB Way in front of the seller. A deposit the day before, to an account you have never seen, is the usual scam.
• Upholstery can carry bedbugs. Look under the cushions and along the seams. If you are unsure, do not buy the sofa.
• Stairs in Porto are narrow. Measure the door and the turn before you hire a van. Delivery is usually your problem.
• A price far under the others, a seller who will only ship, or a request to move the conversation off the site, is a reason to stop.
