A child going to school in Porto may need a bus, the metro, or both. The ticket is Andante. Which zones you buy is the whole question, and it is written up in The Andante pass, without the jargon.

The University of Porto writes that, since January 2024, university students up to 23 have free travel on the Andante network. Read that on their transport page, then confirm the current rule on Andante before you skip a ticket. A school further out, in Gaia or Matosinhos, can be a second zone. The zone map beats a guess.
