A chat tool on a phone can turn a letter from Finanças into plain language, draft a polite message to a landlord, or explain what a line on an electricity bill is probably saying. That is the useful part. It is a well-read stranger. It is not your accountant, your doctor, or the tax office.

Never paste a password, a multibanco code, an MB Way confirmation, both sides of an identity card, or a full medical report. A photo of a letter with your name and address is already a lot. Cover the NIF and the bank account if you only need the paragraph explained. If the tool tells you to pay a fine or to ignore a deadline, open the original site, Portal das Finanças or SNS 24, and read it there.

The free versions keep what you type, under rules that change. For a translation of a menu, that is fine. For a will, a diagnosis, or a residence file, take the draft to a person who signs their name.
