Can I use the SNS before I have a user number?
I arrived last month. I have a NIF but no número de utente yet. If I get a high fever this weekend, what do I actually do?

Call SNS 24 on 808 24 24 24 first unless it is clearly life-threatening, in which case call 112. Urgent care does not wait for a perfect file. Bring your passport and NIF to the desk. Routine family-doctor visits and some prescriptions are where the missing user number slows you down, so keep chasing registration at the primary-care unit for your address.
