Public schools in Porto

Image: Teleporto.

In Porto the public pré-escolar, from 3 to 6, and the first four years of basic school sit with the city council. From the second cycle upward, the school belongs to an agrupamento under the education ministry. A place follows the address where the child lives. A move in January is possible when that school has room. How that conversation goes is in the question on a mid-year place.

Who to call

The city’s education department publishes the desk on its own page. Take the child’s identification and proof of the address.

The school office, the secretaria of the agrupamento, is who says whether a class has a seat. The city desk is who explains which school the address belongs to.
