A Portuguese phone number in Porto

Banks, deliveries and the health centre expect a Portuguese number. NOS, MEO and Vodafone have shops in the centre and a counter at the airport.

A prepaid SIM is the simple version. Take your passport. The shop registers the number to that document. A contract asks for a Portuguese address and more paper.

The price of the starter pack is on the board in that shop. It changes, so compare what is in front of you, not a price from a forum post.

Home internet is a separate contract, usually with the same three companies, and they ask for a NIF and an address.
