The Andante pass, without the jargon

One card works on the metro, STCP buses and the urban trains that joined Andante. You pay for the zones you cross, not for each time you change vehicle. You still validate at the start, and again when you change line or operator.

For a monthly pass, get the silver Andante card. In 2026 the card costs €6, or €3 for students. The monthly prices in force since 1 January 2026 are €30 for 3Z (three neighbouring zones you choose), €40 for every zone inside one municipality, and €40 for the whole metropolitan area.

Andante’s own example: trips between central Porto and Matosinhos Sul use a 3Z pass loaded with PRT1, PRT2 and MTS1. If you only ride inside Porto, the municipal Porto pass covers PRT1, PRT2 and PRT3.

Occasional trips use the blue card and a Z ticket counted from where you first validate. The airport to Trindade is a Z4, not a Z2. The 2026 occasional Z4 is €2.30. Check the machine: occasional tickets were the fares that changed in 2026, the monthly passes were not.

Load a monthly pass at a metro or CP machine, a Payshop, or an Andante shop. The first silver card is bought at a shop or station, not from the driver.
